Some of us are fighters and some of us are not. Everyone faces a crisis in different ways. Perhaps you are the kind that instantly wants to run. Maybe you are completely overwhelmed or intimidated by the circumstance that is looking straight at you this morning. I get that! You know the devil is hoping that you will run.
I Corinthians 15:58 says this “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” I love this verse! Nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. Thank God that we who are truly loving and serving Him are not doing this in vain. We have a purpose and influence, therefore, all the more of a reason for the enemy of your soul to try to put up roadblocks.
The devil’s job is to stop you dead in your tracks. If you are serving the Lord with purpose and passion most likely he has devised a plan and instructed all his little devil minions to target you so that you will give up. John 10:10 says, “The thief comes to steal, kill and to destroy, but I have come that they might have life and life more abundantly.”
When I was a young girl one of the few good things that I can recall being taught was that when you get knocked down get back up. Don’t just lay there in shock. If you stay down….you lose. So, okay, you’ve been knocked down by something. We all have been knocked down a time or two. Get back up and fight! Remind the devil that he is a loser and you are a winner. Take the fight to him. Ephesians 6:10-13 tells us how. “A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm.”
Maybe everything in your life is not the way you would like it to be. Like me you are engaged in some battles. Perhaps you are getting a little weary. I get that. I get weary too but I also know that in the long run there is no way I am going to lay down and play dead for any devil! So, stand up, go look in the mirror and give yourself a pep talk. Remind yourself who you are. You are a devil stomping Christian and you are a fighter! I am right there with you my friend.
Remember, we who endure until the end win the prize. So let’s run the race set before us and let’s jump over those hurdles while shouting “Take that devil..you lose”! And when our feet land on the other side of that hurdle the devil is under our feet.
FIGHT or FLIGHT? It’s our choice.
